Getting to know you

Today marks Stan’s two-week birthday.  This week was definitely much smoother than last, as we’re starting to develop a little bit of a routine now.  My amazing mother-in-law is staying with us through the end of the month and has been of invaluable help.  I don’t know what we’d do without her.  We’ve actually been getting some sleep and are eating good, maybe even a little too good.  Dad’s looking mighty healthy these days.

As for Little Stan, he too is eating good, sometimes slurping down as much as 4oz of breast milk or formula in one sitting!  I don’t think he’s human sometimes.

Stan’s projected due date was yesterday.  It’s a good thing he arrived when he did, because a natural birth probably wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.  We don’t have a scale here, but he’s definitely well over 8lbs now.  I’m thinking about taking him over to Safeway this afternoon, stripping him down to his Huggies and plopping him in the produce scale for a weigh.  Just kidding.

We’ve had a lot of fun bonding and getting to know Stan over the last two weeks, although he does spend most of his waking hours eating, pooping and tinkling…sometimes all three at the same time.  The other day, my mother-in-law watched the little guy for two hours while my wife and I ran some errands.  We both commented on how weird it felt without him and couldn’t wait to get home.  Going back to work in July is going to be especially hard.

I shot about 250 photos of Stan throughout the week.  Below are a handful of my personal faves.  I also shot a bunch of black-and-whites with the vintage Canon AE-1P, which I plan to post once I get the film developed.

Thanks again to all our wonderful family and friends for the continued support.  And happy early Father’s Day to all my fellow Dads out there.  And an extra special salute to all the mothers, because without you, the world would surely crumble.

Namaste,

Travis

He's super cute! Stan seems very animated. Enjoy him as much as you can while you're on leave because your heart will long for him when you're gone! At 6 months, Eli is still eating 4oz. I expect Stan will be a big boy!
