Remember Big Pants and Small Wheels?
I do, and the photo below perfectly sums up early-90s skateboarding. This was me circa 1992. Well, this isn’t me in the photo, but it might as well be: ridiculously oversized jeans (they look like New Deal “Big Deal” jeans), Vans Chucka Boots and wheels so small they barely covered the bearings. That looks to be a slick bottom decks he’s riding, too. I miss those days. I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll take an early-to-mid ‘90s flick any day over most of the new, big-budget films released today. I still peep all the new releases, but they just don't do alot for me. Sure, the skating is amazing and incomprehensible, but the rawness that originally drew me into skating just isn’t there. Then again, maybe I’m just getting old. Whatever. Glad I’m not the only one out there that feels this way. Long live the early-90s!
