Dead Man's Point - Ye Beware!

I ventured to Lands End earlier today to shoot some photos for the newspaper.  I was actually just there yesterday, but it was hazy and I didn’t quite get the shots I was looking for.  The weather today, however, was gorgeous, very few clouds in the sky, almost perfect for shooting.

While standing on the high cliff at Dead Man’s Point, an out-of-bounds area off the Coastal Trail, I noticed a small group of surfers below me.  Good thing I brought the zoom lens, ‘cause I was so high up that they probably would have looked like specs of dirt on the lens without it.

As you can see by the photos, there are tons of rocks, some just barely visible, which makes surfing this place like playing a game of chess.  You better choose your lines wisely.  One small mistake here may cost you your life...

Spotted this obscurity on the way home.  Must be drafty.  I'd be bummed if that were my house...

Yeah, it IS a long way down out there at Deadman's Point, isn't it...

And those surfers must be NUTS, because the rocky cliffs look like they could grind a surfer into shreads...

Great finding you... Plug1 sent me over.

Hi Donald:

Nice to meet you! I think Lands End might be my favorite spot in the city.

By the way, I am a fan of your photos. Plug1 sent me over to your site.
