All About Isaac Mckay-Randozzi: Photog, Gonzo Journalist, Skate Nerd Extraordinaire…
My good friend Isaac Mckay-Randozzi chimed in yesterday in response to Wednesday’s post, which asked if anyone cyberspace could name any other skateboarders besides Richard Mulder and Gershon Mosley that rode for Milk Skateboarding Goods (MSG), Christian Hosoi’s short-lived early ‘90s skateboard company.
According to Isaac, both Ron Chatman and Ethan Fowler were on the team. “I remember seeing [Ron] Chatman’s board at a skate shop and [Ethan] Fowler in an old Thrasher ad,” he said. Isaac then sent me another email a few minutes later saying that Wildman Julio de la Cruz also skated for MSG.
So assuming Isaac is correct, you have Christian Hosoi, Richard Mulder, Gershon Mosley, Ron Chatman, Ethan Fowler and Julio de la Cruz all riding for MSG. Now that's one hell of a lineup! All six dudes ripped (some still do) and brought something unique to the table. Expect the full skinny on MSG and more in the Richard Mulder Interview that's set to run here on the site next Wednesday (7/23).
Moving on, I woke up this morning to the below message and photos from Randozzi in my inbox:
“Was going through some older shit and found these from back in 2004. The bear's reading Left Handed Stories.”
The photos below come from some high profile group art show that Isaac was in back in 2004. Each artist was given his or her own little section to work with. Isaac asked Porous Walker to participate in the show with him. That's Porous in the Mrs. Bernstein Bear costume. His role was to slop peanut butter sandwiches together and offer them to the passerby. I'm not even joking. It was pretty random. You’ll also notice a handful of Left-Handed Stories books in the background. The book had dropped like a month or two beforehand, so Isaac let me work them into his part of the show as well. People didn't know what to make of the whole thing. I particularly remember Porous going wild the whole night, scaring people in his costume and forcing them to eat peanut butter sandwiches on fatty white bread. The local news was on hand interviewing people in the show. They went from section to section and talked with all the different artists, but made it a point to skip us entirely. Ha! Classic.
A little about Isaac:
Isaac Mckay-Randozzi’s career as a photographer and journalist started seven years ago when he linked up with the website www.fecalface.com, a San Francisco-based online art community that averages approximately 13,000 unique visits a day.
